Question:How is the app?
Answer:Those saying this is a great app just haven't used other apps yet. This app does not even have a way to download or create a video from the SD card within the app. You have to manually get the SD card out of the device (that means getting a ladder for the outdoor cams) and put it into your computer and making the video from there. This app seems somewhat disjointed as it has "view activity" in one place and it's another place if you click thru the notification. Some companies have good apps but poor camera and some have a poor app but great cameras. If only we could find that one company that has a great app AND a great camera. This one doesn't seem to be it either. You have to decide what is more important to you - great app (needed features and more control) with ok cameras (like 1080p) or great cameras (2K+) with ok app (less features, less control) For our needs - this is a great camera but just an ok app. We'd like to find one that is great camera, great app - this is camera #4 and we have yet to find that magic combo.

I don't have this camera but, I have the KD110 doorbell cam. I've been using the Kasa app for more than five years now and it's one of the best smart home app, IMHO. I just recently acquired the doorbell cam, about 2 months ago and I really like the 24/7 recording feature. Few people complain about not being able to save recordings to your smart phone, this is not true. You can actually press the red record button when viewing the recorded clip from the SD card and press again when done. The mp4 file is then saved to your phone for later sharing or viewing. The 128gb sd card can continously loop record for 13-15 days. This camera should work the same way as their doorbell cam. I hope this helps
Question:Can I get motion detection alerts on cell without cloud or sd storage?
Answer:Technically yes - as long as the camera is connected to a WiFi network, with Internet connectivity, and associated with a Kasa account, with notifications enabled in the Kasa app, you should still receive detection alerts when detection occurs. Please note that no recording will take place if you do not have a MicroSD card inserted, or a Kasa Care cloud storage plan.

This is what I bought for the basement to watch the cats. It's inexpensive and works
great. However it does not allow you to download video via the app. You have to take
the SD card out and plug it into your PC. Also is almost useless if mounted like shown
in the photo. Needs to be mounted upside down for the pan, tilt, track to work properly
to watch the cats. The image can be flipped so it's right way up when looking at it. It has
four area points in the room that can be set so it 'patrols' between them on a timer when
there is no activity. Mine is mounted so it is portable and uses phone battery bank
charger.10000mwh lasts 10-12 hours on one battery using the lower charge rate,
trickle charge port. I have three of these battery types so I just switch them out
when scooping, feeding, playing etc. The more movement the faster the battery is
used up as the camera tracks the action. Case in point it watches the robot vacuum
cleaner as it moves around for hours. I have mounted underneath a plastic coffee
table placed on set of drawers in the middle of the room. The reason it's not plugged
in and mounted permanently is so it can be portable between rooms for different cats
fostering arrangements. It's really light in weight. It could easily attached to a long
goose neck phone holder clamped to a desk or other piece of furniture. If you buy
one of these for a baby. You might want to do something similar temporarily mount
it move it around in the room until you find the right spot before drilling your new walls.
Get the next model up for the video download thing. Stills can be saved from the app.
You don't need cloud storage for pets/rescue cats I feel. Reviews say the 128 or 256sd
cards record for a several days can then continually record over themselves. There are
other similar cameras by other companies, REO, Eufy, TP-Link. I think some encrypt
the SD card.The tech specs say it 2.4ghz WiFi only, but it is running and hooked up to
my 5ghz wifi without issue. Not sure how, but all is well. When watching videos from
the SD card via the app you can hit record button on the screen, but I can't find where
they record too. Any clues?

I have a professionally installed surveillance and alarm system installed at my house
and have installed other cameras in and around my property and in my garage. But this
Kasa system allows me to monitor what is happening inside my house when I am not
there. They were easy to set up. They allow me to see if Alexa has been a good girl and
is turning on the lights, closing my garage door, and doing her errands when I am not
there to supervise her. They allow me to check on my pets when I am away and make
sure Brutus is not sitting on my favorite leather chair. One is also set up to monitor my
front porch so I can check if Amazon delivered my package when they were supposed
to. And if some porch-thief decides he/she wants my package, I can supply their image
to the police on the card used for recording.

En mi caso tengo otras cámaras de exteriores TP link y la calidad es excepcional, esta
cámara cumple su cometido pero no me gusta y tampoco entiendo por qué no guarda
los videos de movimientos en la aplicación, solo los guarda en una memoria que no
viene incluida en la cámara, por lo demás cumple pero no es excelente, la recomiendo
si! Debido a que no encontrarás una cámara igual pero para exteriores!

1080 pixel images/videos. You can talk instantly in two way system. This product can
